TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan– Joint elements of drug enforcers and police arrested a lawyer during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Don Mariano Marcos, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya on Thursday, October 6.
Known lawyer Christopher Ramel, 52, is facing a charges for his alleged in illegal drug trade.
Police said Ramel had been under intelligence surveillance before the buy-bust operation in his own house.
Allan Lloyd Leano, officer-in-Charge of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in Cagayan Valley region said the suspect is single, private practitioner and a resident of CICM Street, Barangay Don Mariano Marcos, Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya.
Confiscated from Ramel were 10 pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu weighing 10 grams.
The illegal drug is estimated to have a market value of P50,000. Operatives also recovered one unit cellphone and assorted drug paraphernalia.
Cases for violation of Section 5 (Sale of Dangerous Drugs), Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 12 (Possession of Equipment, Instrument, Apparatus and Other Paraphernalia for Dangerous Drugs) of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002) are being prepared for filing before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor against the arrested drug personality.
