TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines- Typhoon Ferdie (international name: Meranti) is likely to avoid the landmass Philippine landmass, the state weather announced on Sunday, September 11.

In its weather bulletin on Sunday 5 pm, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration or PAGASA said Ferdie already entered Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

It was last spotted  1,280 kilometers east of Casiguran, Aurora and is moving west northwest at 22 kilometers per hour (km/h).

The typhoon will just stay above Cagayan Valley region as it head to Taiwan.

It has maximum winds of up to 120 kph and gustiness of up to 150 kph. Forecasts said the typhoon could reach a maximum winds up to 215 km/ and a gustiness up to 250 kph before it makes landfall in Taiwan.

Based on its forecast track, Ferdie will leave PAR on Wednesday, September 14. TNF
